Description
Protodeka was an experimental prototype siege machine used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the crisis involving the Dark Reaper. It was a massive, crab-like battle droid designed by a Colicoid engineer and manufactured by the Geonosians on the planet Raxus Prime. Built for siege warfare, it featured extremely heavy armor, powerful laser cannons, homing concussion missiles, and a claw for close combat. Although it was slow and not very maneuverable, it compensated with relentless pursuit of its targets. Early versions had significant vulnerabilities, particularly from the rear and at close range, which led engineers to equip it with a short-range seismic pulse weapon capable of destroying nearby units.
The Protodeka saw combat on Raxus Prime and Thule, where it was deployed to defend Count Dooku and an ancient Sith city connected to the Dark Reaper. Despite its power, it was ultimately destroyed by Jedi including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and Luminara Unduli, who used TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank units to defeat it. The machine proved too expensive to mass-produce, so only a few were ever built, and after the conflict its creator was imprisoned in the Fortress of Axion.
