Description
Mecha Spider Scout
The DSD1 dwarf spider droid was a formidable battle droid model manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop. Favored by the Commerce Guild, it was first deployed against renegade miners in skirmishes deep underground. Known as the burrowing spider droid for its ability to infiltrate narrow passages. Spider droid was armed with a powerful nose-mounted laser cannon. Capable of both rapid-fire and high-intensity bursts. It also served as an anti-air weapon, demonstrated during the Battle of Teth.
With four articulated legs designed for traction on vertical terrain, the dwarf spider droid proved highly adaptable to rugged battlefields. During the Battle of Teth, these droids clung to the cliffs of the B’omarr Order monastery. Droids gaining a superior firing position against incoming clone troopers and AT-TE walkers.
As the Clone Wars raged on, the dwarf spider droid became a staple of the Separatist Droid Army. Droids engaging the Grand Army of the Republic in countless battles. However, its underbelly remained a critical weak point, as demonstrated when Captain Rex destroyed one by planting a thermal detonator beneath it during the Battle of Teth. The Separatists equipped many of these droids with self-destruct mechanisms, ensuring that, when cornered on the battlefield, they detonated rather than allowing themselves to be captured.
From the early conflicts on Devaron to the climactic battles of Anaxes and Kashyyyk, the dwarf spider droid remained a relentless adversary of the Republic, striking fear into those who dared to challenge the might of the Separatist Alliance.
