Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons and Dragons, organized the first Gen Con as early as 1968. It is now one of the largest conventions for game and fantasy enthusiasts in the United States. The convention continues to be held annually to this day. Since 2003, Gen Con has taken place in Indianapolis and has been known as Gen Con Indy.
